Suleiman Ssenyonjo: Standing up for the rights of people on the Island

In 2013, DefendDefenders invited me to the official launch of the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders – Uganda (NCHRD-U). This was the first time I truly understood that I was not alone in this struggle.
Island Activism
Working on Kalangala Island, Suleiman faces unique challenges in defending human rights in a remote community. The isolation that once seemed like a barrier has become an opportunity to reach underserved populations.
Network Building
Through DefendDefenders' support and the NCHRD-U platform, Suleiman has been able to connect with other defenders, share experiences, and access resources that strengthen his work.
