Arrest of Kenyan Human Rights Defenders
17th September 2010 Kampala  Rights Organisations condemn arbitrary arrest of Kenyan human rights defenders. Two Kenyan human rights defenders, human rights lawyer, Mr. Mbugua Mureithi, and human rights activist, Mr. Al-Amin Kimathi, were arbitrarily arrested and detained upon arrival in Uganda.
Mr. Mureithi Released from Police Custody
Update: Mr. Mureithi released from police custody; Mr. Kimathi remains in detention. Mr. Mbugua Mureithi, human rights lawyer, was released from Ugandan police custody and escorted onto a plane in Entebbe from where he has since flown back to Kenyan this morning.
Burundi: Free Journalist Detained on Treason Charges
20th July 2010 Kampala – The Burundian authorities should release Jean Claude Kavumbagu, a journalist arrested on treason charges on July 17, 2010, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project, and Human Rights Watch said today. The arrest violates his right to free expression, the groups said.
